My great uncle, Philip Leslie Hale was friends with Monet and painted with him in Giverny. A friend suggested that I paint haystacks reminiscent of Monet's....so I added a beast for some drama, a girl in the field, like Wyeth's "Christina"... and a Van Gogh like sky, swirling with fiery passion.
